Performance of the works of Vasilije Mokranjac in South Africa

May 10, Johannesburg - Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of South Africa Saša Mart attended, at the invitation of the organizers, a concert by the young Portuguese-Russian pianist Taissa Marchese, held within the framework of the The Wits Standard Bank Piano Festival in Johannesburg.
Invited by the festival, the artist performed works by renowned Serbian contemporary composer Vasilije Mokranjac (1923–1984), as part of a programme inspired by Orthodox sacred music, which is also the subject of her doctoral dissertation.
The inclusion of Vasilije Mokranjac’s works at one of South Africa’s prominent piano festivals represents an important contribution to the promotion of Serbian musical and cultural heritage abroad, while further strengthening cultural ties between Serbia and South Africa.
