Meeting at DIRCO – Strengthening Bilateral Relations between Serbia and South Africa

The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of South Africa, Saša Mart, met on March 20 at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa (DIRCO) with Ms Phumzile Mazibuko, Director for Central, Eastern and Northern Europe and the Baltic States.

During the constructive meeting, opportunities for further intensifying bilateral relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of South Africa were discussed, with a particular focus on enhancing political dialogue, economic cooperation, and the exchange of visits at both high and working levels.
Special attention was devoted to the participation of the Republic of South Africa in EXPO 2027 Belgrade, as well as to opportunities for further connecting institutions and business communities of the two countries.
The interlocutors also reflected on the recent visit of the delegation of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture of South Africa to the Republic of Serbia earlier this month, emphasizing that the visit provided a strong impetus for enhancing cultural cooperation. In this context, it was highlighted that preparations are underway for the organization of South African cultural events in Serbia this year, which will further contribute to mutual understanding and closer ties between the two nations.
