DIRCO Event - Advancing People-Centred Development

Аmbassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of South Africa, Mr. Saša Mart, attended a public event held on 9 January 2026, in Rustenburg, organised at the invitation of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, in cooperation with the Rustenburg Local Municipality, under the theme “Advancing People-Centred Development.”
The event was hosted by the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa, Mr. Ronald Lamola, with the support of Deputy Minister Mr. Alvin Botes. The gathering focused on promoting key public-interest themes that marked South Africa’s G20 Presidency, as well as on the outcomes of the historic G20 Leaders’ Summit held in November 2025.
The objective of the engagement was to provide stakeholders with insights into the outcomes of the G20 Summit and the G20 Social Summit, and to explore opportunities in the mining sector and other emerging development sectors, including agriculture and tourism.
