Ambassador of Serbia attended the Commemoration of the 30th anniversary of South Africa’s Constitution
The programme, organized by the South African Judicial Education Institute (SAJEI), included a wreath-laying ceremony, a seminar and an exhibition dedicated to the significance of the Constitution as the foundation of democracy, human rights protection and the rule of law in South Africa.
The gathering was addressed by Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Hon. Andries Nel, MP, who emphasized the importance of the 1996 Constitution as one of the pillars of South Africa’s democratic transformation and highlighted its role in building an inclusive society founded on human dignity, equality and freedom.
The event brought together representatives of the judiciary, diplomatic corps, government institutions, academia and civil society.
The commemoration of three decades of constitutional democracy serves as an important reminder of South Africa’s democratic journey and the crucial role of institutions in safeguarding the rule of law and protecting fundamental rights.
