The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of South Africa, Saša Mart, met today in Pretoria with the Director of the Consular Section at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) of the Republic of South Africa, Astrid C. Abrahams.
The meeting focused on further strengthening cooperation between the consular services of the two countries, with special emphasis on providing assistance to Serbian citizens residing in South Africa, improving the efficiency of consular procedures, and exchanging best practices in the field of consular affairs.
Particular attention was devoted to the possibilities of liberalizing the visa regime for citizens of the Republic of Serbia, which, as noted, would significantly contribute to enhancing contacts between the two countries. Ambassador Mart emphasized that facilitating visa procedures and introducing more flexible travel arrangements would encourage a greater number of Serbian tourists and businesspeople to visit South Africa, thereby further advancing economic, cultural, and people-to-people cooperation.
Ms. Abrahams expressed understanding for Serbia’s interest in this matter and confirmed DIRCO’s readiness to consider possible avenues for improving visa policy and strengthening consular cooperation.
The meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, with mutual confidence that ongoing dialogue will contribute to the further strengthening of bilateral relations and cooperation in areas of shared interest.
