Ambassador Saša Mart Meets with Vice President of the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Pretoria, 8 June 2026 – The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of South Africa, Saša Mart, met with Neil Pollock, Vice President of the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to discuss opportunities for strengthening economic and commercial cooperation between Serbia and South Africa.

During the cordial and productive meeting, the interlocutors exchanged views on ways to increase bilateral trade, encourage investment flows and deepen cooperation between the business communities of the two countries. Particular attention was devoted to enhancing direct contacts between Serbian and South African companies, as well as to the organization of business forums and trade missions.

During the meeting, Ambassador Mart informed his interlocutor about the plans of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia to establish a representative office in Johannesburg in the near future. The interlocutors agreed that this development would provide a significant boost to business-to-business cooperation, facilitate increased trade and investment flows, and contribute to stronger economic ties between the two countries.

Ambassador Mart presented Serbia’s preparations for hosting EXPO 2027 Belgrade and highlighted the importance of South Africa’s participation in this major international event. He emphasized that EXPO 2027 represents an excellent platform for showcasing South Africa’s economic, investment, tourism and innovation potential to a global audience, while also creating opportunities for new partnerships with companies and institutions from Serbia and other participating countries.

Mr. Pollock welcomed efforts aimed at strengthening bilateral economic relations and expressed the South African business community’s interest in exploring cooperation opportunities with Serbian partners and engaging with EXPO 2027.
