On 9 June 2026, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of South Africa, Saša Mart, received Mduduzi Ntuli at the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Pretoria. Mr. Ntuli is responsible for the educational programme at the Apartheid Museum.

During a cordial and productive meeting, the interlocutors discussed prospects for developing cooperation between the Embassy of Serbia, the Apartheid Museum and relevant institutions in Serbia. Particular attention was devoted to the organisation of joint exhibitions, educational initiatives and other projects aimed at promoting public awareness of the historical ties between Serbia, the former Yugoslavia and South Africa.

The participants highlighted the importance of preserving the memory of the international struggle against apartheid and of presenting to wider audiences the role played by Serbia and the former Yugoslavia in supporting liberation movements and the fight against racial discrimination in Africa.

In this context, they explored opportunities for joint exhibitions, research and educational projects, as well as possibilities for establishing direct cooperation between the Apartheid Museum and museums, archives and cultural institutions in the Republic of Serbia.

Ambassador Mart underlined Serbia’s commitment to preserving the legacy of anti-colonial and anti-apartheid struggles and noted the considerable potential for strengthening cultural and educational cooperation between the two countries. Mr. Ntuli expressed the Apartheid Museum’s interest in developing concrete projects with Serbian partners that would contribute to a better understanding of their shared history and the values of solidarity, equality and freedom.
