Ambassador met with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to Pretoria

On 2 March 2026, a meeting was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Pretoria between the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia, Saša Mart, and the newly appointed Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic, Efthalia Kakiopoulou.


During the cordial and constructive discussion, the interlocutors exchanged views on current issues of mutual interest and explored possibilities for further strengthening cooperation between Serbia and Greece, both bilaterally and within multilateral frameworks.
Particular attention was devoted to Serbia’s European integration process. Ambassador Mart emphasized the importance of Greece’s continuous and principled support to Serbia’s EU path, underlining that Serbia highly appreciates Athens’ consistent assistance within the institutions of the European Union and other international fora. The two ambassadors agreed that the continuation of reforms and the strengthening of regional stability remain essential for further progress in the accession process.
They also highlighted the traditional friendship and close historical, cultural, and spiritual ties between the two countries, as well as the importance of mutual support and coordination on issues of common interest. Readiness was expressed to further enhance cooperation between the two diplomatic missions in South Africa and to exchange experiences relevant to their work.
